Darfur party cancelled: refugees disappointed

An email from the good people at the United Nations-African Union Mission in Darfur:

“Dear all,

We regret to inform you that UNAMID’s celebration of its First Anniversary is postponed until further notice. We will be advising you on the new date.”

The email doesn’t explain whether the celebration has been postponed because they’ve all been rather busy of late and didn’t have time to pick up the cake and balloons, or because they belatedly realised they didn’t really have much to celebrate what with the lack of troops, helicopters, blue helmets, peace, etc…

One response to “Darfur party cancelled: refugees disappointed

  1. I can exclusively reveal it was because of fears their party might clash with the ICC announcement and all the guests might get trapped in Darfur when all the airports close.
